Documented comparison · Running the business

Jobber, Housecall Pro and AgentsFast for a small service business

For a small service business, software has to keep estimates, appointments, payments and customer updates moving. Here is how these three products describe that work, where their plans differ, and what to check before you choose.

This compares published product information; it is not a head-to-head trial. We read each company’s pricing pages and help articles on 5 October 2026, and the booking and reminder pages on 6 October. The AgentsFast cells in the booking section come from its maker’s own account of the shipped product, as noted there. AgentsFast is made by DavidAgents, which publishes this site.

When a source we reviewed doesn’t mention something, we say it isn’t established by the sources we reviewed. That doesn’t prove a product can’t do it, so ask.

The short version

  • If your week runs on quotes, schedules, invoices and getting paid, Jobber and Housecall Pro both publish those tools on their entry plans. AgentsFast publishes invoicing and payment collection through paid add-ons, but the sources we reviewed don’t establish quotes, field scheduling and dispatch, or job costing.
  • If you want work handed to an AI team, such as building and running your website, keeping customer records and working through connected tools, AgentsFast publishes that model. Jobber and Housecall Pro also publish websites and AI features, so “has AI” isn’t the difference. How the work is handed over, and what you can see and correct, is.
  • You may need both. Whether an AI team can work with your job system depends on the connections between them. Jobber documents connectors for some outside AI assistants; the sources we reviewed don’t establish one between AgentsFast and either job system. Ask before you plan on it.

Quotes, schedules, invoices and payments

This is the core of a job system. Plan names are each company’s own; Jobber’s run Core, Connect, Grow and Plus, and Housecall Pro’s run Basic, Essentials and MAX.

A Collections add-on staffs an agent to follow up as invoices age; at 30 days overdue, it is set to draft the next message for your OK instead of sending it. Sending by text needs a texting add-on. Site subscriptions also take payment through your Stripe account. Turning a field estimate into an invoice: not established by the sources we reviewed.

A feature listed on a higher plan isn’t necessarily missing from a lower one in some form. Check the plan you would actually buy.

Customer booking and reminders

A booking that holds a time is different from a request you still have to schedule. Here is what Jobber and Housecall Pro document about the customer’s side, read on 6 October 2026, and what AgentsFast’s maker reports for its standard website booking block.

 JobberHousecall ProAgentsFast
How a customer booksJobberBooking forms on your website or client hub. A plain request form sends details for you to review and schedule. An assessment booking lets the customer pick a time, and by default waits for your approval. A job booking puts a one-off job straight on your calendar.Housecall ProOnline booking from your website, Google or a link. The customer picks a time slot, or a fixed start time you set, and the job goes on the calendar. With the “Manual” booking setting, the customer picks only the service, and an unscheduled job or estimate is created for you to schedule.AgentsFastThe standard booking block on a hosted AgentsFast website books an introductory video call, not a field visit. The chosen time is reserved at once; if the customer’s email isn’t verified yet, the invitation follows once they verify it. The block doesn’t expose custom booking hours: it offers up to five weekday times, skipping any already taken on the business’s calendar.
Changing or cancellingJobberClient hub shows upcoming appointments and lets customers confirm them. The pages we read don’t describe customers rescheduling or cancelling online themselves.Housecall ProIn the customer portal, customers ask for a new appointment, a reschedule or a cancellation through a Send a Message button. The button appears only once you have a custom texting number and have registered your business.AgentsFastFor a call booked through this block, customers can’t start a reschedule or cancellation online themselves; they reply to the invitation or ask the business’s assistant. If the business proposes a new time, the customer’s email has a link to accept it, decline it or pick another offered time.
RemindersJobberAssessment and visit reminders by email, text or both, sent automatically on a schedule you set or by hand. Texts go only to the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada. Rescheduling a visit cancels reminders for the old time and schedules new ones for the new time, following your settings.Housecall ProText job reminders, off by default, sent a set number of days before at a time you choose. Customers also get a text and email when a job is scheduled, and an update if its time changes. Email reminders are set up separately.AgentsFastThe block sends no automatic reminder before the call. Anything an agent is set up to do beyond the block isn’t covered here.
Plan conditionsJobberBooking jobs online is listed on Core. Automated client reminders are listed on Connect, the next plan up.Housecall ProOnline booking is listed on Basic. Text notifications need texting set up in your account. The pages we read don’t tie job reminders to a plan.AgentsFastThe booking block is part of the hosted website, so it needs the website hosting add-on, which is billed per site.

Try it as your customer would before you choose: in a trial, book a test appointment with made-up details and an email address and phone number you control, so every message goes only to you. Then change it, and see which messages arrive and when. Our guide to forms, appointments and class registration explains what each kind of form actually holds, and our guide to checking your data before you switch covers moving existing appointments.

Your website

All three publish a way to get a website. They differ in who builds it and who makes the next change.

  • Jobber says a website is available on all plans. It generates a site from your business details, which you can edit, built from sections you add, remove and reorder, with your own domain.
  • Housecall Pro describes a done-for-you service: its team builds the site from details you enter, with a first draft in a few weeks and plans of 1, 5 or 15 pages. The page we read didn’t show a price, so ask whether it’s included in your plan.
  • AgentsFast lists website hosting as a monthly add-on: a live site your agent builds and runs, with optional add-ons for customer sign-in and a site database.

DavidAgents has published a recorded demonstration of an owner changing a service description in the editor after an agent built the page. It is the publisher’s own staged demonstration, with a fictional business, not an independent comparative test. Whichever product you look at, ask to make a small edit yourself before you buy. Our website checklist covers how.

AI and delegated work

All three publish AI features. What they describe is different.

  • Jobber AI, in beta, answers questions about your account data in chat. In voice mode in the mobile app it can create and send quotes, send invoices, check schedules and capture notes. It is available to admin users, and on the top plan to other team members by voice. Jobber also documents connectors for Claude and ChatGPT on all plans: they can look up records, create or edit requests, clients and properties, and create quotes, but not create or edit jobs or invoices, delete records or change the schedule.
  • Housecall Pro’s AI Team has five assistants: reporting from your data, marketing writing, business coaching, help with the product, and a call-answering assistant. The help article says all but the call-answering assistant are included with your account.
  • AgentsFast is built around the AI team. The subscription is a manager agent plus up to three agents, run from chat, with a built-in customer record system, a knowledge base, and connectors, automations and webhooks. More agents and capabilities such as email, texting and a website are added for a monthly price, which its pricing page says you approve before it starts. Its product page says each agent works with its own identity and audit trail, and that an optional approval mode limits them to message templates you have signed off.

For any of them, find out what the AI may do without asking you first, where you see what it did, and how you undo it.

Phone answering

All three offer some form of AI phone answering. Jobber offers a Receptionist add-on, and Housecall Pro offers a call-answering assistant as an optional add-on. We haven’t compared them here: phone answering needs its own tested guide. Until then, our phone checklist covers what to test.

AgentsFast’s phone agent is an early-access pilot (five businesses, one kind of call), not covered here. In our October 2026 checks of DavidAgents’ own public company line, not a customer’s line, the call did not always hand over cleanly and the AI did not identify itself at the start; we will report a new call test after the fix is deployed. We make no recommendation on either until then.

How each one prices

Read on 5 October 2026, in US dollars. Prices change, so check each pricing page before you decide.

  • Jobber prices by plan, team size and billing term: monthly with no commitment, monthly with a one-year commitment, or billed annually. Each plan includes a set number of users, and more cost extra each month. It advertises plans “from $29 a month”: that is its entry plan for one user, billed annually.
  • Housecall Pro prices by plan, billed monthly or annually, with a set number of users per plan. It advertises plans “from $59 a month”: that is its entry plan for one user, billed annually. The page also shows introductory offers, so ask what you’ll pay once an offer ends.
  • AgentsFast is $150 a month, billed monthly, for the manager and up to three agents. Further agents come in packs of three, and capabilities are separate monthly add-ons. For example, the subscription plus website hosting is $169 a month. Sending invoices needs the $29 online store and $19 site database add-ons, so it starts at $198 a month, or $247 with the $49 Collections add-on, before Stripe fees and any texting or email add-ons. It is in a private beta by invitation.

These are advertised starting points, not equal packages or totals. A job system’s plan price and an AI team’s subscription cover different work, and what you pay depends on your team size, billing term and add-ons.

Moving your data

  • Jobber documents exporting your client list as a CSV or vCard file, up to 1,500 rows per file. Admin users can export clients.
  • Housecall Pro documents importing and exporting customers and jobs. Its help article says the MAX plan includes work with its data import team.
  • AgentsFast: its data lake page says every subscription includes a data lake that you can export at any time as CSV files to your own Drive. A complete export of your customer records is not established by the sources we reviewed. Ask what you can take with you, and in what format.

Questions to ask any of them

  1. Which plan includes the tools I’d use every week, for my team size and billing term?
  2. What does the AI do on its own, what does it ask me first, and where can I see and undo what it did?
  3. Who makes the next change to my website, and how long does it take?
  4. Does it connect to the software I already use, and is that connection documented?
  5. What can I export if I leave: customers, jobs, invoices, messages?
  6. Can I try it on my own work before I pay?

What this comparison can’t tell you

It reports what each company publishes, not how the products perform. We haven’t run the same tasks on all three, so we don’t score or rank them, and there is no overall winner. That includes the AgentsFast cells: in the first table they rest on its published documentation, and in the booking section on its maker’s own account of the shipped product. Neither is a trial. Plans and features change, sometimes monthly. The right choice depends on the work you do every week, and the sensible next step is a trial on your own jobs.
